Aim
The aim of the Programme is to produce graduates who can improve the management of occupational health and safety while at the same time upholding environmental quality. The Objective of the MOHSEM are to:
- Produce professionals with analytical and problem-solving skills in order to prevent SHEM related losses and maximise profits for corporates.
- Produce professionals who are capable of designing and implementing innovative integrated systems for managing safety, health, environment and quality.
The Master of Science in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management programme is expected to produce a graduate who can:
- apply high level practice skills in occupational health, safety, environment and quality management.,
- demonstrate evidence-based knowledge and skills of a competent SHEM professional,
- research and apply scientific principles to solve SHEM problems,
- create new knowledge and develop novel ways of solving SHEM problems,
- integrate knowledge and principles of SHEM, and apply skills needed to prevent accidents, injury and occupational diseases in the workplace and maximize profits,
- critique and analyse SHEM systems, and understand their advantages and limitations,
- facilitate, educate, communicate and promote SHEM in the workplace and the Community.
- implement and establish systems which can change SHEM culture within Organizations.
- plan and implement all types of audits for continual improvement.
