Advancement and Public Affairs

The BUSE Advancement and Public Affairs formerly Public Relations & Protocol Department is a new unit which was established in November 2014 under the Vice Chancellor’s office. The unit came into being after the Marketing and Communication Department was divided into two departments, thus, the Marketing and Development and the Public Relations and Protocol.

The department is a centre of communication and the major driving force behind all linkages with stakeholders such as the government, students, potential students, alumni, high schools, employees, legislators, local and business communities. The department also communicates key messages to the internal and external public towards the building and maintenance of a distinct, high corporate image of the University. The department is also responsible for managing the protocol of formal ceremonies for the University

  • Production of university-wide publications
  • Media liaison
  • International relations
  • Function and event-management
  • Strategic relationship-building initiatives
  • Internal, external and online communication
  • Corporate crisis

To be the hub of excellence in communication   

The department exists to enhance the general awareness and visibility of the University through an effective news and media relations programme, hosting of public events and production of University publications and other materials or activities used to communicate the University’s desired image.
