Dr Engineer Nicholas Tayisepi –Executive Dean
Message from the Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering
As the inaugural serving substantive Executive Dean, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Bindura University of Science Education Faculty of Engineering (BUSEFE) website. I invite you to explore the programmes, research, innovations and the dedicated people that make our school one of the most promising upcoming top tier Faculties of Engineering in the country. The BUSEFE is the youngest among the University’s six strong Faculties, having been weaned from the Faculty of Science in September 2025. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr Tendai Njila for his outstanding leadership as interim Dean during the early formative days of the Faculty.
As the country’s leading innovation-driven university, BUSE, strives to become a leading globally renowned university that produces transformative and innovative graduates. The BUSE Faculty of Engineering, in synch, is pursuing the agenda of producing all rounded impactive hands-on, practical engineering graduates. This approach reflects our commitment to undertaking the rigorous techno-engineering work required to help society navigate an era characterised by rapid technological advancement and unpredictable change.
We need engineers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to help society and communities transition and adapt in an inclusive and equitable manner. At BUSEFE, we are committed to training engineers with collaborative, innovative, and forward-thinking mindsets, capable of working together to build, design, code, and develop practical solutions that address present challenges while safeguarding the future for generations to come.
The Faculty of Engineering is a school in the ascendancy, with a talented and growing student population, a nationally-competitive research programme, and faculty members that are reputable experts in their respective disciplines. This demonstrates our strong potential for swift growth and our crucial role in producing highly skilled graduates who bolster our nation’s high-tech oriented economic trajectory under NDS 2 and vision 2030 aspirations. Engineering is the discipline driven by optimists. As leaders in innovation, Engineers do not just have to wait for the solutions the world requires — they must invent them. Engineering fuels innovation of areas critical to and across the society commonwealth, from Agricultural mechanization, Mining Engineering systems advancement, advanced manufacturing and autonomous food grain processing and engineering systems to national security, energy and infrastructure. The current vision for the future of the Faculty of Engineering challenges all stakeholders to think more boldly and strategically as we strengthene our engineering programmes, partnerships, and institutional priorities. I look forward to working closely with our collaborating partners, industrialists, entrepreneurs, sponsors and the university apex leadership team to sustain the conducive environment that enable our faculty, staff, and students to excel and make a meaningful impact on society and national development.
In our commitment to ensuring continued growth and development of the Faculty, we remain focused on the five major pillars of Heritage-Based Education (HBE5.0): developing successful and competent students, sustaining research excellence, providing innovation leadership, impactively contributing to the industrialisation agenda and actively partaking in community engagement, intent on purposely contributing towards rural industrialisation. Through continued investment in campus resources, a strong focus on entrepreneurial ventures, a strong connection with industry partners, and a drive to innovate, the Faculty remains optimistic on effective success at advancing in our march towards scoring success in fulfilling the five pillars; and giving the community around us a strong return on its investment. The nation and the broader engineering community look to BUSE Engineering for leadership, intellectual capital development, and outstanding graduates who will help shape and secure the economic and technological future of our country.
Currently, BUSEFE consist of the following Departments, offering respective 4 year Honours Bachelors degree Programme in Engineering:
- Electronic Engineering
- Agricultural Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Grain Processing and Milling Engineering
I look forward to getting to know current and future students, as well as all the amazing BUSE Faculty of Engineering partners, sponsors, stakeholders and supporters who are helping BUSEFE create a sustainable, just, and prosperous world. Together We Move Forward.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicholas Tayisepi (Pr. Eng)
