Chairperson: Prof. Isnel Rodríguez González
The mandate of the department is to equip agricultural engineering students with mechanical, environmental, and technological knowledge relevant to the agricultural engineering profession in the 21st century. Research has shown that agricultural engineers face challenges in developing climate-smart farming systems, managing environmental problems such as soil degradation, water scarcity, and food insecurity, as well as addressing contemporary mechanization and sustainable energy challenges; hence the need to establish this department. Graduates from the Agricultural Engineering department are competent in applied research, innovative engineering design, and critical problem-solving.
Vision
To be the premier centre for technopreneurial innovation in Agricultural and Grain Milling Engineering, driving sustainable agroindustrialization and food security through transformative engineering solutions in Zimbabwe.
Mission
To produce impactful, technopreneurial engineers through science driven teaching, research, and community engagement; creating industry relevant technologies that enhance agricultural productivity, post harvesting value addition, and socioeconomic transformation.
