On the 17th of March 2020, the Social Work Department at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) hosted the International Social Work Day. The theme for the year was entitled: ‘Promoting the Importance of Human Relationships’. Students from the Department of Social Work at Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) joined BUSE in celebrating this day.
The event started off at BUSE Town Campus where the event was being held. A debate centred around the theme for the event was conducted amongst BUSE and ZEGU students. The debate focused on two motions; Modern vs Traditional relationships. Tafadzwa (Part 2.2 BUSE) and Brian Chiutsi (Part 1.2 BUSE) were selected as debate moderators and both affirmative and non-affirmative sides finished at par. More so, a drama based on the theme on human relationships was also done by part 1.2 students from the department of Social Work from BUSE.After the event at the BUSE Town Campus, the students and lecturers marched to Bindura Prison where they presented donations in the form of sanitary wear, soap, tissues to Prisoners.
