Dr Albert Manyani

Dr Albert Manyani holds a PhD in Geography obtained at KwaZulu Natal University of South Africa in 2017. He also holds an MSc and Mathematics Education Degree (Geography) (2006), a BSc Special Honours Degree in Geography (1998) (all from the University of Zimbabwe). He was awarded a Government Scholarship to study for a BSc Honours Degree in Geography Education (1989-1994) at Enrique Jose Varona University in Cuba and graduated in 1994. Dr Manyani’s research interest is in climate change, livelihoods, indigenous Knowledge systems, disaster and the environment. To this end, Dr Manyani has co-authored book chapters, journal papers and text books on Heritage Studies (Indigenous Knowledge Systems) some of which are being used by the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education and Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development. He has taught several courses to both under and postgraduate programmes that include Research Methods and Data Analysis, Agrarian studies, Disaster Risk Management and Livelihood Security and Indigenous Knowledge systems. Dr Manyani has served in various university committees including being a Part-Time Warden in Student Affairs Department. He has coordinated the training of Science Teachers under the Virtual and Open Distance Learning which was offered by BUSE from 2010-2015. He participates effectively in community empowerment programmes such as Wetland Management Project, Climate Change Mainstreaming in Development Projects, Enhancing Disaster Resilience within communities as well as facilitating in Workshops and Conferences, both locally and internationally. He is currently the Chairman of Geosciences Department in the School of Geosciences, Disaster and Development under the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
