The 7th SADC Industrialisation Week, held at the Harare International Conference Centre, presented Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) with a unique opportunity to showcase its various products to the region.

The SADC Industrialisation Week was held under the theme, “Promoting Innovation to unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth and Development towards an Industrialised SADC” which resonates with the heritage-based Education 5.0 policy. The policy adds innovation and industrialization to tertiary education’s traditional teaching and learning, research and community service thrust.

BUSE showcased several projects and products that received rave reviews from international and local delegates.

With local and international guests thronging the BUSE stand, the Masawu products stole the show.

Rainbow Towers Hotel executive chef Mr T. Gamani was particularly impressed by the juice.

He said, “This is a really good product. It is unique and very innovative. I would recommend it to my dinners.”

Titus also drew much interest from delegates. Titus is BUSE’s Artificial Intelligence tool which is customized to generate responses in indigenous languages. It is capable of responding in Shona, Ndebele, Chewa and Swahili.  The excitement BUSE’s products generated at the SADC Industrialisation Week is a testament to the positive effects of Education 5.0. Using local resources, BUSE has innovatively produced products that are capable of creating their niche in a highly competitive international market.
