7th African Regional Conference of Vice Chancellors and Deans of Science Education, Engineering and Technology (COVIDSET)

Bindura University of Science Education in collaboration with UNESCO and ANSTI will be hosting the 7th African Regional Conference of Vice Chancellors and Deans of Science, Education, Engineering and Technology (COVIDSET) from the 20 to 21 November 2019.

Conference Objectives

The objectives of COVISDET 2019 is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas, share experiences and good practices, sensitise policy makers and university leaders on current and emerging trends in STEM Education for Africa’s global competitiveness and develop strategies and actions for enhancing university education and training for realising STISA 2024 goals under sub-themes:

1. State of STEM Education in Africa: Challenges and opportunities towards STISA 2024 (skills development, Research and Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Patents, Entrepreneurship).
2. Strengthening /Enhancing capacity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education to achieve the New Development agendas (African Union Agenda 2063, STISA 2024);(Linkages and Partnership, Research funding, relevant programmes, Human Capital development, Value addition).
3. Teacher training for STEM education for effective delivery of STEM education.
4. Strengthening Higher Education policies and strategies to promote STEM education and accelerate realization of STISA 2024.
