Theme: “Leveraging Disruptive Technologies to Strengthen Anti-Corruption Strategies”

4 – 6 August 2026

Rainbow Hotel, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

About the Conference

Corruption is one of the most significant obstacles to sustainable development and accountable governance, undermining both state institutions and citizen trust. Globally, institutions such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Transparency International (TI) have repeatedly highlighted that corruption is no longer confined to traditional bribery and embezzlement but has taken new forms shaped by digital transformation. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the expansion of cryptocurrency markets, and the growing sophistication of cybercrime are simultaneously creating new opportunities for corruption and new tools for integrity. This duality places immense pressure on anti-corruption agencies to adapt quickly and creatively.

Zimbabwe is not immune to these developments. In recent years, it has strengthened anti-corruption efforts through the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and its growing partnerships with academic and research institutions. However, combating technologically-enabled corruption requires cross-sector and cross-border collaboration. Recognizing this need, ZACC, in collaboration with Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and the Research Council of Zimbabwe (RCZ), propose to convene the Second International Anti-Corruption Research Conference in August 2026 in Bulawayo. This joint initiative is designed to stimulate intellectual debate, produce high-quality publications, and strengthen policy frameworks, while situating Zimbabwe within global anti-corruption research networks. The overarching aim of the conference is to provide a multi-stakeholder platform for knowledge generation, exchange, and application in the fight against corruption within the evolving digital and technological landscape.

The conference is targeting academics/ researchers; accounting officers; anti-corruption investigators/ officers; trial officers/ prosecutors/ legal practitioners; procurement managers/ officers; legislators; security personnel; civic society; and the business community.
