Minister Tours Bindura University Construction Projects

The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development the Hon. Professor dr. Amos Murwira toured the Bindura University of Science Education construction projects on 26 January 2022.  Accompanied by Ministry and Bindura University top officials the Minister toured the Innovation Hub, Accommodation Hostel Blocks and the Engineering Workshop Block Project.

On touring the Innovation Hub, the Hon. Minister expressed satisfaction with the workmanship of the contractors and expressed high hopes for the Hub to be the home of creativity and innovation which is not restricted to any particular discipline. The Innovation Hub is over ninety eight percent complete with most of the major construction work already done. Construction workers are now mostly concentrating on the internal fittings of the Innovation Hub and the hub is set to be launched soon. After touring the Innovation Hub, the Minister toured the Accommodation Hostels which are under construction. The Minister was once again impressed with the workmanship as exhibited by ongoing work at the construction site. The Minister went on to tour the Engineering Workshop Block construction site which is midway through construction.  

The multiple ongoing construction projects are expected to further improve the teaching and learning environment at the Bindura University of Science Education in various ways. The Innovation Hub is expected to produce patented research, create products and innovative solutions geared towards developing new industries and resolving existing national challenges for national development. While the new accommodation hostels are set to ensure that all students who require accommodation are catered for making students accommodation challenges a thing of the past. The Engineering Workshop Block is expected to ensure that all engineering students will be able to do their practical assignments locally instead of undertaking them in Harare as is currently the case.

Minister Murwira emphasized the need to ensure that the building structures meet the need for physical functionality of intended use as well as aesthetics and that both aspects should be provided for without compromise. He further singled out the Innovation Hub and reiterated the need for it to be comfortable, fitted with paintings and other curios to give a creative ambience for innovation and ingenuity. The minister expressed his desire to visit the construction sites after completion and facilitate the commissioning of the completed sites.
