Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) library donated 2 028 fictional books to several institutions on Friday. BUSE Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Wilson Parawira emphasized the importance of the higher education sector in teaching and serving communities as per the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development’s Education 5.0.
“Our parent Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development’s Education 5.0 philosophy emphasises that the higher education sector has a mandate to teach, research, serve communities, innovate and industrialize Zimbabwe,” said Prof Parawira.
The recipients, Herman Gmeiner High, Holy Cross High, Magaranhewe Secondary, Nyamatikiti High, Rushinga High, Wayerera Secondary and Bindura Municipality were grateful for the book donation.
Bindura Municipality director of housing, Mrs Evelyn Madziire invited the BUSE officials to the reopening ceremony of the municipal library in March.“The Bindura Municipality is planning the reopening ceremony and we would like the BUSE officials to spearhead the event due to this generous donation”, said Mrs Madziire.
The donated books are worth US$12 200 and the University assured Bindura Municipality of more books aimed at empowering young people academically.
