BUSE Holds a Strategic Plan Review Workshop

The BUSE Council, Management and Staff held a successful Strategic Plan Review workshop at BUSE on 2-3 November 2021. The 2019-23 BUSE Strategic Plan was adjusted to run concurrently with the National Development Strategy 1: 2021-2025 (NDS1).

Giving the keynote address at the workshop, The Vice Chancellor Professor Eddie Mwenje said the review of the plan was going to be guided by government development directives through NDS1, the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and other social and economic factors. The nation however remained glued to Vision 2030 which promised prosperity to the working class. It was therefore necessary to craft systematic strategies to stay on course for the attainment of this national objective.

The Acting Registrar, Mr Stanley Chitera said the objectives of the workshop were to evaluate the progress on the attainment of goals and objectives of the 2019-23 BUSE Strategic Plan; leverage on strengths to mitigate weaknesses; ascertain whether the pre-determined goals were achievable and make appropriate adjustments and report to stakeholders and decision makers.

Two officers from the Public Service Commission, Mrs Moyo and Mrs Muganyo helped participants to understand the new planning requirements under NDS1. This involved giving an overview of NDS1 and explaining the various templates that would be used. All departments then took turns to present their reports on the implementation of the Strategic Plan. The sessions were practical and interactive and participants were able to review and adjust the strategic plan by the end of the workshop.

Mr Chitera then thanked all participants and facilitators for having endured long hours during the intensive two day workshop. He urged members to follow the new document to achieve the desired local and national development objectives.

The participants included the Chairperson of Council, Dr Grace-Mae Taruvinga; the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eddie Mwenje; the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Wilson Parawira; Executive Deans; Directors; Managers and Faculty Administrators.
