A high powered delegation from the Bindura University of Science Education which was led by the Vice Chancellor Prof Mwenje toured the Africa University (AU) Farm, Innovation Hub and the Advancement and Public Relations office on the 19th of January 2022. The Bindura University contingent was made up of the following technocrats Mr Chihombori (Assistant to the Vice Chancellor), Prof Nyakudya (Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences), Miss Gakaka (Animal Technician), Mr. Mhlanga (Agricultural Science Lecturer), Mr. Dhliwayo (Agricultural Science Lecturer), Mr Mudapakati (Farm Manager) and Mr Penyani (Marketing Officer).
The main purpose of the visit was to get firsthand experience on how the AU handles its operations on the Farm, Innovation Hub and within its Advancement and Public Relations office. It was an enlightening experience as members of the Bindura University delegation team took note of some best practices within their areas of operation from their AU counterparts. The BUSE delegation on their part shared their own experiences of how their relevant departments operate in what turned out to be a fruitful exchange of ideas between the two universities.
The Bindura University delegation gained a lot of insights from the AU visit as they were able to benchmark their operations against those of the AU thereby noting areas of improvement and possible partnering. It is envisaged that a possible visit from the AU delegation is imminent as a follow up to the BUSE delegation visit. The ongoing visits are expected to continue to cement relations between Bindura University and Africa University hence the importance attached to the engagements.
