Mechanical Workshop Technician /Senior Technician (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants should have a National Diploma in Engineering or its equivalent;
  • A National Certificate in Machine Shop Engineering;
  • Skilled worker Class one (1) in Fitting including Machining or Turning including machining is a requirement;
  • At least five (5) ‘O’ levels including English, Maths and Science;
  • A Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering would be an added advantage;
  • Experience in a training environment in industry, VTCs or Tertiary institutions would be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of CAD softwares;
  • Training engineering students in the use of workshop equipment and tools, such as lathe machines, milling machines etc;
  • Designing, Manufacturing, repairing, developing, constructing, modifying and commissioning of equivalent and models using a full range of conventional machines, CNC machine, tools and bench fitting equipment;
  • Operating and maintaining of the plant, equipment and machinery;
  • Creating budgets, ordering of miscellaneous materials parts and consumables and maintenance of adequate stock levels;
  • Organising educational industrial visits for the department;
  • Supervising technical assistants in the mechanical workshop.
