Qualifications and Experience

  • The incumbent should have a minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Library and Information Science;
  • At least one (1) year of post-qualification work experience in a school, academic, or research library;
  • Knowledge and experience with information and communication technologies used in libraries is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbents should be able to:

 

  • Perform circulation desk routines;
  • Shelve and shelf-read library materials;
  • Assist users in locating and retrieving material on the shelves and online;
  • Assist in the annual inventory of library materials;
  • Assist in internal mending of library materials;
  • Perform accessioning labeling, and ownership marking of library materials;
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices;
  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring performance of library ICT gadgets;
  • Perform library duties at night during the week as well as on Saturdays and Sundays;
  • Perform any library-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Librarian.
