Assistant Accountant- Non-Current Assets (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants ought to:

  • Have a degree in Accounting
  • Be in possession of a full or partial a professional qualification.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Be highly computer literate preferably, proficient in Pastel Accounting package.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

 

          Duties and Responsibilities:

          The successful candidate shall have the following duties and responsibilities among others:

  • Maintaining the university’s asset register.
  • Recording fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system
  • Creating and monitoring a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets
  • Performing regular physical inventories of assets to ensure that records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Preparing asset-related reports, such as depreciation schedules and insurance inventories.
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as procurement and accounting, to ensure that asset management procedures are followed consistently.
  • Assisting with internal and external audits of the university’s asset management system.
  • Managing the disposal of assets in accordance with the university’s policies and procedures.
  • File insurance claims for damaged or lost assets.
  • Helping with asset valuations
  • Recommending updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets
