The University received a cash donation of five thousand dollars ($5,000) from Nicoz Diamond Insurance Limited towards the development of the National Sports Academy. The donation was handed over by the company’s General Manager for Business Development, Ms G. Ngwenya on 11 July at the University Main Campus. Nicoz Diamond Insurance Limited is a company engaged in the provision of short term insurance solutions and property investments.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ms Ngwenya acknowledged how she cherished the relationship between Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) and Nicoz Diamond which dates back to 2016 when the organisation made its commitment to financially support the development of the National Sports Academy. She added that her organisation was prepared to partner BUSE in hosting other events.
Ms Ngwenya expressed her appreciation to BUSE for reciprocating to this kind gesture in a unique way. She said the organisation was enjoying the publicity it was getting through various adverts which were flighted by the university in the print media as a result of the partnership.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof E. Mwenje expressed his gratitude to Nicoz Diamond for the existing partnership. He added that the donation was proof of the “true friendship” that existed between the institutions. Nicoz Diamond came on-board at the inception of the National Sports Academy which was also the most difficult time for the institution in terms of funding.
He implored Nicoz Diamond to continue partnering the university considering that BUSE was now working towards the development of the multi-million National Sports Academy project whose launch was recently done by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Chancellor of the University, His Excellency, Cde E.D Mnangagwa.
This was not the first time that Nicoz Diamond was donating to BUSE. The organisation has in total donated fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) towards the development of the National Sports Academy. Other donations the organisation raised were channelled towards the hosting of the University Golf Tournaments and Graduation prizes.
