A BSc. Honors degree in Nursing Science provides students with a more in-depth study of physical and social sciences, nursing research, nursing leadership and management, community, and concepts in nursing education. This broader and more in-depth education enhances the students’ professional development and allows the graduate to better understand the many social, cultural, economic and political issues that impacts nursing and nursing education. The amendment in the nomenclature of the programme allows the Department to align with changes in the field and diversify to include other specialties such as Mental Health Nursing, Community Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Nursing Education and Maternal and Child Health/Midwifery.
The degree programme shall be offered over a period of three years full time study
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission a candidate must:
- Have at least 5 O’Levels including English Language and a Science subject with grade C or better (A’ Level passes in Science subjects are an added advantage)
- Have a Diploma in General Nursing
- Be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and hold a current Practising certificate or equivalent.
- Have at least 4 years post qualification working experience.
- A post basic Diploma registered by the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe or equivalent will be an added advantage.
