BUSE Alumnus awarded Scholarship to study at Oxford University

A BUSE alumnus, Tatenda Magetsi received a prestigious Rhodes scholarship to study at the Oxford University in the United Kingdom. He will be pursuing a Master’s Degree in Socio-Legal Studies starting October 2019.

Tatenda graduated with a first class Honours in Social Work in 2018. He was famed for defying all odds in his way especially financial challenges. Tatenda embarked on casual work to generate funds for his tuition fees and overall welfare. He was a true survivor in the face of all the adversities that most students confronted during their university days.

Tatenda also exhibited some leadership traits during his university days. He was the Secretary for Off- Campus Accommodation during the 2015/16 Student Representative Council term. He was also a member of SAYWHAT and the BOOST/ENACTUS team that won the Delta Make a Difference Competition in 2017. To top it all, Tatenda was a prolific debater.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Eddie Mwenje and the rest of the University community wish him success as he takes up his scholarship at Oxford University. The University is extremely proud to have such an ambassador.
