Alumni Relations

The Bindura University Alumni Association

The term Alumni can be defined as a former student of a university or college. Bindura University of Science Education started churning out graduates as early as 1999, when it was still referred to as the Bindura University College. Output figures of graduates have continued to grow since then, and to date, the figure stands over five thousand. Our former students are scattered all over the world where they hold various positions of responsibility. The University has successfully continued to accomplish its mission of producing `highly acclaimed` graduates as testified by the recipient countries of our products as well as the local sectors of the economy. Our alumni are our key products and the most important manifestation of BUSE`s excellence. In addition, our Alumni leave their mark of excellence all over the world where they work and in this way Bindura University of Science Education is recognized.

The University values the bond that exists between the institution and the Alumni. As a result, we implore members of the Alumni to post their current contact details to the university to keep abreast with institutional development. Our Alumni has a wide footprint not only in Zimbabwe, but across the continent and beyond. As an institution, one of our key objectives is to grow and broaden our Alumni Database in order to increase our connectivity with our Alumni. This enables us to share with you exciting developments at your alma mater. It is critical for our Alumni to share with us exciting developments in their careers.

Role of the Bindura University Alumni

The members of the Alumni Association are significant stakeholders who have a critical responsibility to play in the development of their Alma Mater. The Alumni Association is an integral part of the overall advancement of the institution. By virtue of their strategic positioning in the various sectors of the economy, within and outside the country, our members can assist in the creation of mutually beneficial networks with such sectors. Members of the Bindura University of Science Education Alumni Association can actively participate in the development of their Alma Mater through:

  • Assisting with the mobilisation of resources for institutional development
  • Mentorships and career guidance for current students and recent graduates. Alumni can involve themselves in providing orientation programmes for new students briefing them on their career options.
  • Being advocates and ambassadors of BUSE
  • Networking the university to various partners in the world
  • Donating their time, effort, expertise, finances and other resources to BUSE
  • Providing feedback through which the institution can update academic courses most relevant to current industry requirements. Our Alumni can identify career opportunities available in a particular field based upon which academic programmes can be modeled. Feedback from the alumni helps to improve the teaching and learning process, research and development, infrastructure development and industry-institution partnership.
