In addition, average serum total cholesterol level, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides were all reduced by up to 24%, 23%, and 27%, respectively.8 Postmenopausal women with type 5 diabetes who received 1.5 g of cinnamon per day for six weeks showed no significant changes in blood glucose tolerance test or in their blood lipid profile.5 In experimental animal studies, the compound in cinnamon with blood glucose lowering was identified as cinnamaldehyde.
