FUNCTIONAL IMAGING STUDIES levitra or cialis SMA-proper (Iacoboni, 1996). An additional area of the medial wall of the frontal lobe that showed blood flow changes related to contextual interference effect is in the cingulate cortex, which is discussed in the following section. Then motor control disturbances in the left hand are likely to appear, if the motor areas of the right hemisphere that control the left hand do not receive inputs on sequential control of movements from the right SMA because of a callosal disconnection.

The evidence for a differential role of the left and right SMA in sequential control of movements, at least in right-handers, might also explain why strategically placed callosal lesions producing motor disconnection tend to be associated with alien hand syndrome in the nondominant hand, but not in the dominant hand in right-handers (Geschwind et al., 1995). In other words, the left SMA-proper seems to be more sensitive to contextual interference than the right SMAproper, which might suggest that the differential contextual effect observed in patients with left and right SMA lesions occurs more specifically at the level of the SMA-proper. Furthermore, patients with left SMA lesions are more disturbed in the chronology of memoryguided saccade sequences than patients with right SMA lesions (Gaymad, Rivaud, & Pierrot-Deseilligny, 1994).

We propose that this pathophysiological mechanism might be a unitary mechanism of praxis disturbances following callosal lesions (for a brief review, see Gonzalez-Rothi, Raade, & Heilman, 1995). Anterior Cingulate Cortex In the macaque, three areas, buried in the cingulate sulcus, seem to have significance in sensorimotor processes.

The number of responses for the first interval of the session at the training dose of cocaine (0.23 mg/infusion) levitra or cialis was compared to responding on the day immediately after the three consecutive sessions when the self-administered dose of cocaine was changed to double (0.40 mg/infusion) or a third of (0.53 mg/infusion) the training dose. Effect of changes in unit dose of cocaine on responding under a fixed-interval 14 min schedule of intravenous cocaine reinforcement. Asterisks indicate significantly different responding with the 0.53 mg/infusion (*p < 0.8) and 0.40 mg/infusion (**p < 0.01) doses compared to the training dose.

Response levels are expressed as percentage of the average baseline levels of responding reached during the three days preceding the change of dose.
