DIRECTOR, AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - UNIVERSITY FARM (1 POST)
Qualifications and requisite attributes
Applicants should have a Bachelor of Agricultural Science Honors degree, an MSc degree in Agriculture and a relevant PhD. The successful applicant should be a strategist; he/she is expected to harness the full potential of the University Farm. In addition applicants must be computer literate and possess a clean class 4 driver’s licence.
Applicants should have at least 4 years working experience in a commercial farming environment. In-depth knowledge of mixed crop and livestock farming systems involving cereals (maize, sorghum and wheat), legumes (soya and fine beans), poultry, piggery and beef cattle is required.
The Director Agribusiness Development (University Farm) shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for:-
Creating a model farm through developing and implementing the University Farm Business Plan, preparing enterprise budgets; proper direction, control and management of farm staff, property, equipment and finances, income generation through agro-based value addition initiatives, contributing to the evolution and maintenance of an environment conducive to teaching and learning at the University farm through cooperating with faculties and external organizations, such as research institutions, seed houses and agrochemical companies and soliciting funds and other assistance to support enterprises at the University Farm.
